Mine Closure

Responsible closure and rehabilitation of mining sites

Governance and planning

Responsibility for mine closure and rehabilitation lies with the General Directors of each operation. The Group maintains detailed closure plans for all sites and conducts periodic reviews to ensure that these plans remain aligned with regulatory expectations, site-specific conditions, and updated cost estimates.

Each closure plan includes a comprehensive assessment of the activities required to decommission and rehabilitate the site. These include environmental protection measures, land reshaping, and revegetation. Closure provisions are reflected in the Group’s financial statements and represent the discounted value of expected decommissioning and reclamation costs, based on the current estimated life of mine for each deposit.
