Policies and due diligence

The Group maintains a set of policies that define its relationship with employees, including the Code of Fair Employment and the Diversity and Equality Policy.

To ensure these standards are upheld, the Group regularly reviews employment terms across its operations. It also conducts due diligence on all recruits before hiring, reinforcing its commitment to fair and responsible employment practices.

Attracting and retaining skilled employees

Employee retention is a core priority at every operation. The Human Resources team actively manages turnover, recognising that long-term expertise has been central to the success of major assets like Aktogay and Bozshakol.

During the world class ramp-up of the second sulphide concentrator at Aktogay, the Group drew significantly on internal knowledge gained from earlier ramp-ups—demonstrating the value of experience and continuity within the workforce. When employees leave the business, exit interviews are conducted to capture feedback and identify improvement opportunities.

Developing future leaders

The Group runs a comprehensive Leadership Development Programme designed to identify and nurture future leaders. Once identified, high-potential employees are supported with tailored training and mentoring. As of the end of 2024, over 290 employees across Aktogay, Bozshakol, and the East Region are actively participating in individual development plans.

The Group proactively identifies potential successors for key positions and supports them with tailored development strategies. Expatriate employees are assessed annually on their efforts to mentor and coach local successors, with progress tracked through quarterly updates and year-end reviews.
