We are a responsible developer and operator of mining assets in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations are at the heart of our business strategy and vital to maintaining our licence to operate.
Our ESG approach
Sustainability is embedded in everything we do. We operate with a focus on safety, environmental responsibility, social progress, and strong governance practices. These principles guide our actions and shape how we deliver value across all areas of our business.
National context
The Group employs around 14,000 people, with the majority based in Kazakhstan. We recognise our responsibility to contribute to national development through economic participation, workforce engagement, and community partnerships. Our operations are built to deliver lasting benefits in the countries where we work.
Safety & health
The safety and health of our employees and contractors is our highest priority. We are dedicated to fostering a culture where safety is deeply embedded in daily operations, supported by training, leadership, and continuous improvement across all sites.
Supporting communities
We support the local and national economy by generating employment, paying taxes, sourcing goods and services locally, and investing in infrastructure that benefits communities near our operations. Our approach is focused on creating shared, long-term value while minimising harm and building strong local relationships. In 2024, KAZ Minerals contributed taxes of $782 million in Kazakhstan and $46 million in Kyrgyzstan and invested $52 million into various social and community projects.
Materiality
To ensure our sustainability efforts are aligned with stakeholder expectations, we regularly consult with both internal and external groups to identify the Corporate Responsibility areas most relevant to KAZ Minerals. These consultations help define where we focus our resources and reporting.

Strong governance is central to our sustainability approach. Our operations are guided by a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that promote ethical behaviour, regulatory compliance, and operational quality across the Group. These frameworks help ensure that our actions remain consistent with our values and responsibilities.
