Highlights
- KAZ Minerals processed 47.5 Mt of ore in H1 2024, a record for the Group and a 7% increase on the prior year comparative period (H1 2023: 44.5 Mt), as management remains focused on enhancing operational performance.
- Copper production of 191 kt decreased by 4% (H1 2023: 200 kt) as an expected reduction in grades processed was partially offset by the enhanced throughput.
- Silver and zinc production in H1 2024 reduced by 5% and 6%, respectively, as mining operations at East Region and Bozymchak were from lower content sections. Gold production fell by 3% due to lower output at Bozymchak, where open pit operations have ceased and the new underground mine is ramping up.
- Copper sales of 203 kt were 6% above production, as shipment times improved and the Group delivered additional volumes.
Andrew Southam, Chief Executive Officer, said: “KAZ Minerals’ continued focus on operational excellence enabled the concentrators at Aktogay, Bozshakol and Bozymchak to operate above design capacity and process record ore volumes in the first half of 2024. The Group sold 203 kt of copper in the period, as shipment times improved.”
